FOCUS Accreditation Innovation Awards at the FOCUS Fall Learning Event and Innovation Award Celebration, took place on November 12, 2014. Participation House Support Services London and Region received an Innovation Award for providing community support services to adults who are medically fragile and technologically dependent, including those living with chronic mechanical ventilation. These services are innovative in that they involve the creation of a coordinated and integrated system of healthcare and community supports, which involves developing a significant network and many partnerships with a diverse group of health and community support agencies and professionals. The impact of the innovation – people who in the past lived in segregated settings that afforded few opportunities to experience life in their communities are now experiencing full citizenship.
“FOCUS is pleased to provide a platform and incentive to organizations that are approaching their work with a commitment to innovation and are doing more with less or the same. The Innovation Awards Committee members and attendees at the event were very impressed by the variety of submissions, ingenuity, and level of commitment demonstrated by the organizations in their quest to create positive change.” stated Janeen Halliwell, Executive Director, FOCUS.
Participation House was also awarded the Most Innovative Presentation award.
About the FOCUS Innovation Award
The FOCUS Innovation Award for community services is the first of its kind in Ontario. Open to FOCUS accredited organizations, it recognizes the successful introduction of an idea, process or initiative that has been proven to make a genuine difference or positive impact on the organization, the community and the quality of services provided to people using services. Award winners were determined by an independent Innovation Award Selection Committee.
About FOCUS Accreditation
FOCUS is a not-for-profit accreditation agency that works with organizations that improve people’s lives. Created in Canada, FOCUS standards and processes reflect the culture and expectations of Canadian community service organizations. FOCUS accredits organizations in their entirety, not just select programs. The standards reflect best practices in the way services are provided, as well as the effectiveness of how organizations operate. An organization that meets FOCUS standards is validated as an organization that focuses its efforts on producing desirable results for the people who use its services, and other key stakeholders.
We are pleased to share this achievement with our partners.
