FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
“As the City of London moves towards its budget planning for the 2024/25 fiscal year, now is the time to ensure that City leaders hear and truly understand the urgency of the situation and take appropriate action on the “serious problem” that they have already acknowledged exists.”
-Brian Dunne, CEO of PHSS
London, Ontario – On the heels of numerous recent media hits and announcements on the issue of paratransit in the City of London, members of the PHSS community will be attending a public participation meeting, which the Budget Committee is organizing at City Hall, at 4pm on Monday, January 29.
PHSS community members will using the organization’s own fleet of accessible vans to travel to the event, given the challenges of booking paratransit within reasonable timeframes.
“As the City of London moves towards its budget planning for the 2024/25 fiscal year, now is the time to ensure that City leaders hear and truly understand the urgency of the situation,” said PHSS President and CEO, Brian Dunne. “We need Council to take appropriate action on the “serious problem” that they have already acknowledged exists.”
Members of the PHSS community will make themselves available, upon request, to answer questions – on or off camera – before, after or during the public proceedings at City Hall; or as they travel to and from the meeting to advocate for their right to paratransit, using their community’s own accessible vans – which are purchased with the help of fundraised dollars.
“The last few days have given us hope,” said Dunne, “that the City understands the imperative to act. We are extremely proud of our community members who are taking this opportunity to make their voices heard.”
Members of the PHSS leadership team are also available for attributed quotes or on-camera interviews, upon request.
