Over the past 13 years, the Pillar Community Innovation Awards has evolved into one of the biggest celebrations of positive community impact in our city. Storytelling is at the core of this event, honouring individuals and organizations that are doing exceptional work to help create a more engaged, more vibrant, more inclusive community.
Healing through the Arts is a project developed in collaboration with the London Arts Council, Participation House Support Services (PHSS), L’Arche, and Hutton House. Healing through the Arts offers six-week art studios for people with disabilities, their family members, support workers, and community members who wish to learn, create, and collaborate alongside those with disabilities. The participants in the program are creating art and developing real friendships together, which improves the quality of life of everyone involved, and allows community members to gain a greater understanding of the people that they are assisting.
