Thank You London for Your Support!
In a time when it’s difficult to secure personal protective equipment (PPE) for staff, the London business community is stepping up to help protect some of the city’s most vulnerable residents. In its struggles to secure PPE for its 600 staff, Participating, Housing, Supports and Services (PHSS) has been grateful for donations of face masks and gloves.
“Due to the complex medical needs of the individuals we support, it is important we do our best to protect them from COVID-19,” explains Brian Dunne, PHSS CEO. “Unfortunately, as we’ve seen in the news, it is becoming increasingly difficult for our organization to secure the amount of PPE we need to keep our staff and people we support safe.”
This is where the London community has stepped up to help fill this need. London Medical Pharmacy donated 500 masks, a team of volunteers have been busy making cloth masks for staff, and our vendors and community members have stepped up in whatever ways they can to help us access supplies.
“In addition to help from local businesses, we are also grateful for the dedication of our staff,” says Dunne. “They continue to support the 250 residents who live in our 60 residential homes while still caring for their own children, elderly parents and individual needs.”
“Our staff are also doing their best to create a sense of normalcy for our residents who are no longer able to leave their home for activities, have in-person visits with loved ones or be supported by our volunteers. Staff have been finding creative ways to provide in-home activities and help our residents connect with their families remotely.”
PHSS continues to rely on the local business community to secure the ongoing PPE needs for its staff. We welcome any donations or purchasing options to access PPE to help keep our staff and residents safe by calling 519-660-6635 or emailing info@PHSScommunity.com. This is truly a community effort.
